It is a Linux tool. BSD uses the vnconfig program for similar operations. I saw one web site where someone suggested that the hdid program on MacOS X was an equivalent. I have no idea. It is all over my head.
If you explained exactly what you were trying to do, there might be a pure Mac solution.
I'm writing an operating system that can is stored on a floppy disc. Normally I use Linux for development, but that machine is not available right now.
What I have is a floppy .img file that contains GRUB on it. This GRUB boots my OS from a src folder on the floppy. I then run the .img file inside of VirtualBox or bochs.
However, I use a setup script which uses losetup to copy my source files to the floppy for me automatically so I don't have to reconfigure GRUB everytime...
