Help! I want to fromat some text & add a bit of colour.
Clicking on the color palette button (or from the menu) gives me a bared down palette with no wheel to select from, & no slider on the right. Tried restarting pages but nothing
I think you have selected a bit of text by opening the color palette, right? What happens when you select one of the other color scheme representer tabs at the top of the color palette? Are their contents empty, too? Insert a rectangle and try to open the color palette for the background color. What happens then?
Pages uses the system color selector. Across the top are five icons for different methods of selecting colors. No matter which one I select, I don't see a slider on the right, just one on the bottom for opacity.
I dont have the system selector as you describe it & as i see it on page 128 of the pages pdf manual.
the color floating window that pops up only has the colour box at the top with the magnifying glass tool and then you have the tray at the bottom of the window! Nothing else!!!
don't you have the brightness slider on the right side of the color wheel when the left one of the color selecting buttons is active? With the color wheel you only select the saturation, but you need to set the brightness, too.
has your color palette the long transparent button on the right side of it's title bar? If yes, click on it and you will see five buttons for adjust a color in diffrent ways. Can you click on them and if yes, what do you see?
if this is the first time you came across this problem (I think it is so), can you tell us s.th. about the things you have done before that problem appears? Were there other problems or unexpected behaviours with other programs or the OS itself?
As I wrote higher up in the thread, it seems my problem is system wide:
I can't access the color palette in my preferences (appearance for ex to change highlight color for ex)
I've corrected permissions, gone through restart, applejack'ed the system; zapped PRAM but to no avail: a desperately empty color picker palette
The only trouble I've had with my mac recently is a slow login, slow printing, slow everything but not systematically. Often, I hear the system accessing the disk at regular (+- 1-2 sec) intervals for sometimes minutes at a time during which the system goes to a standstill! Activity viewer is desperately unhelpfull not giving me any hints as to any culprit process.
The most frustrating part is I've just recently( a few months ago) done a fresh format & install of Tiger...
I guess this is a post for discussions in TIGER as it relates to the system but I only noticed it on pages. Of note I can't tell when this appeared: I haven't had to use the color picker in ages!
Does the problem still exist, when you are logged in as a different user? If the Problem is system-wide then ist should appear in all user accounts (if you have only a single user account, then try to set up a test account and see if the color palette is working correctly or not).
after all you wrote (to write for myself) you are right with your opinion to post this in the Tiger Discussions. I'm sorry, but I can't help you solving your problem. I hope someone of the other members can do.
