Text Message Problem/Question.

Why is it that when I'm texting multiple people at one time [lets say I'm in 4 text conversations], 90% of the time I won't get 2 or 3 of the peoples texts, only one and SOMETIMES 2 peoples texts will actually come through. And the other 2 or 3 are in fact texting me back, seeing how I asked them if they texted back. And I know it's not just my iPhone. I've went through 4 iPhones in one month [returned each one for different reasons not text problems] and each of those phones did the same exact thing.

what kind of troubleshooting have you currently done?

Allan has a great question. SMS all your friends 1 at a time. See if it works successfully both ways. If you find you can not get a response back from 1 friend then you isolated it to which friend it is. And they may have something going on their end.

As a few suggestions for troubleshooting

1. Reboot iPhone - Hold down home button & Sleep/Wake button and let go once you see Apple logo

2. Toggle Airplane mode ON for 1 min then OFF. Settings - Airplane Mode

3. Reset Network Settings - Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings - Confirm - Allow iPhone to reboot

4. As a final resort you can try restoring iPhone Software. Keep in mind that restoring will erase all data so perform proper backups if needed.

5. Contact iPhone Support for further assistance and if needed they can refer to at&t support incase it may be something going on there.

To Allen, no I do not receive their texts period.

And to the last response, everybody in my phone can text me with no problem. It's just when I'm texting multiple people at one time only one persons texts will be coming through, even though I've confirmed it with the others that they've gotten my text and they've texted back, i just don't receive their responses. I really don't think there's anything you could do about it, seeing how it's done the same thing on all 4 of my iPhones. One thing it does do though, is when I am sending a text to someone, in the middle of it sending I'll hear the incoming text sound but nothing shows up, it's like my outgoing text is blocking incoming texts or something. But that only happens occasionally, the majority of the time I won't even hear the incoming text sounds and won't get a text from a few people completely.

Well I never do group text. I'm saying I'll be in 4 different conversations with people [I just picked 4 for no specific reason just an example] and 2-3 of them I'll stop getting their texts for some odd reason. It just seems to me like while I'm sending a message it blocks reception or something with a text or two that are coming in and I won't get them. And could it be AT&T? I've had 4 iPhones and 2 different sim cards and I've always had this problem.

I have the same issue with my iPhone, it's usually when I'm reading somone elses text, I'll hear the sound and it'll vibrate. I'll go to check it and it won't be there. I usually know who it's from becuase I had just asked them a question that I know they're answering but it happens sparatically for everyone. I have a friend that's on Verizon, and a few friends that have iPhones. The iPhone friends texts sometimes don't go through either. Every once and a while I'll text someone after just texting a previous person and it will show up on the previous person's screen after I send it. Haven't actually asked who received it though. I just always resend to the person I meant it for but it's annoying. I have people texing me work stuff and it makes it look like I'm a slacker! Do you notice if you hear the sound while another text screen is up? or when it's locked or on another part of the iPhone? Oh and I also get delays (15 minutes +) on the texts sometimes. I'm glad I found a thread to vent on. Thanks for listening.
