Connect speakers to a docking station

I have 4 speakers installed in the ceiling of a new addition, and the speaker wires are accessed in the closet. Is there a docking station for the Nano that can take 4 speaker inputs or do I need a receiver? If I need a receiver, what make/model would work best with an older Nano.

You need an amplifier/receiver and any one with an Aux input will work.

Do all the docking stations have output capability and what type of connection wire will I need?

All of them I know of have output and you will need a cable with a male miniplug on one end and two male RCA plugs on the other. It is a commonly available cable.
