turning a podcast into a regular mp3?

does anyone know how to change a podcast into a regular mp3 that can be stored with the regular songs in the library? now that itunes 6 is erasing the podcasts (like it's supposed to), i listened to a podcast that i like and want to keep for good. can this be done?

Samuel,

Try this: select you podcast file and convert it's ID tags to type 1 using the Advanced menu. Show the file in the Finder or Explorer so you know where it is. Delete it from iTunes but allow the file to remain on disk. Re-drag that file back into the library....it will not be seen as a podcast! Now reset it's tags to type 2 and you should be set.

A ridiculous workaround ... but it works.

Hi Samuel,

Out of curiosity, what format is the aforementioned podcast in now? You can have iTunes display this info by selecting Podcasts and choosing Edit > View Options, then selecting the Kind button. If it is MPEG Audio File, it should transfer to your iPod. There are other formats which may only stream, and not actually download the content to your computer (similar to the iTunes Radio feature). Can anyone, please, confirm or deny this last bit of info? Thanks.
