I have a friend who is interested in getting the new 3G iPhone for his son when it comes out in July. He is asking if SMS text messaging can be turned off or blocked. He does not what his son sending and receiving text messages during school. But he likes the idea of the GPS and all the other features. He has an ipod now.
I cannot be turned off on the iPhone.
You might be able to ask AT&T to not allow SMS to be sent or received.
Blocking SMS usage just so the kid can't do it in school is going to be pointless as there is masses of other more interesting stuff a kid can do on the iPhone while in class (Surf the web, email, YouTube, etc).
Man, I can't believe AT&T charges you $4.99 per month to allow you to parentally configure a phone. I realize they are looking for ways to make money, but you would think this would be part of your service. What a rip. Just give me a bad taste in my mouth about AT&T.
