Terminal Icon on Dock

Hi all:
I am new Mac convert and probably have what would equate to a stupid question, but here goes...
I clicked on a document on my flash drive that was originally created by a macbook and then opened by my previous PC. I tried to open it with my mac and it would not open and actually opened a window that said something about UNIX and looked very similar to a C:prompt that one would see on a PC.

Now there is a Terminal icon on my dock. When I click on it, the window is labled terminal-bash 80x24 and in the text of the box it has my last login date and my name and email address.

My question is can I just drag that icon off of my dock so I don't have to worry about it anymore? Should I just Command Q to quit it? I am not sure what to do and a little help would be great.
