iphone VPN Error Connecting to Sonicwall L2TP

I am receiving very similar errors connecting to a TZ 180 Standard, using IPSec, connecting to the GroupVPN.

Did you ever get this working?

same problem...its either nat problem or some kind of incompatability.

I have the same symptoms. One issue seems to be that the Sonicwall L2TP does not use the "shared secret" authentication method, while the iPhone 3G requires that you enter a shared secret. A dump of the packets (I'm on a TZ190 which has a packet sniffer built in) shows the iPhone trying to present the shared secret hash, but the SonicWall isn't expecting it, so times out. I believe the "duplicate packet" errors are multiple transmissions of the shared secret by the iphone.

The VPN knobs in the iPhone are so few that I doubt we can configure the necessary fine-grained VPN settings to get the connection to work. The iPhone seems to have many VPN settings hard coded for Cisco IPSec and Microsoft L2TP specifically.

successfully connected our sonicwall by setting the exchange mode to aggressive. currently searching for an official way to set things up.

Same problem here... any help is greatly appreciated. BTW, you can't set the exchange mode on a groupvpn... dunno what the post above was referring to.
