How to clear Numbers' "autocomplete" list

Numbers has an auto-complete feature that offers suggested text based on previous entries.
Unfortunately, this feature causes more trouble than good for me because I can't find a way to eliminate unwanted entries from the list of auto-complete items.

It results in "stupid secretary" syndrome, where the computer doggedly keeps trying to do things for me that I don't want done. So, if I enter something incorrectly once, I get the opportunity to get it wrong for the rest of my life.

Perhaps I'm missing a function in Numbers that allows me to edit or delete this list of terms. It seems unlikely that such a fundamental feature wouldn't exist.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks
