PDA to MacBook via IrDA.

I beam memos from my PDA to my old PC with an infrared dongle. My MacBook does not register the presence of the usb dongle nor does my PDA see the MacBook.

Is software available to bring this about? The network part of System Preferences does not have an IrDA option.
