Problem with headphone jack

My Ipod will only play music through the left earbud of my headphones...I tried using a few different headphones and each had the same problem. Is there an easy way to fix this?

This is a fairly common reported failure on these boards. And it is always the right headphone that is out. It is usually one of two things.
One is a broken headphone jack, which can be replaced. You can order the parts on ebay or a number of iPod repair places on the web and do it yourself. Or you can send it to one of the repair places and let them do it.
The other issue is with the iPods circuit board. Usually that is not just the right side, but both sides sounding bad. One test for this failure is to squeeze the iPod in the lower right corner area while playing and see if the sound comes back. If it does, then it is the board and not the headphone jack. Unfortunately no one who has tried opening the iPod and looking that I have read has figured out where the problem is (bad trace on the board, poorly soldered component, etc.). Most of the reports are from people who have just enough knowledge to open the iPod and look, but not really enough skills with soldering small surface mount parts to determine where the issue is. I have never had this problem with my iPod so I have not ever cracked it open myself or I might have better information for you.
So first step is try the squeeze test and see if the sound comes back. If it doesn't then you may be lucky in that is it a fairly straight forward repair or replacing the jack.
