Is there a log file for iDVD '08?

I'm trying to burn a DVD using iDVD '08 and I can get the contents in iDVD '08, but when I try to burn the DVD, I get the popup message that says: "Encoding video: There was an error during movie encoding" and it quits.

Is there a way (like a log file or at least more verbose information) to tell what went wrong?

I can run the DVD in iDVD and everything looks fine: I can traverse all menus and play all videos and slideshows. I just can't burn a DVD nor can I burn an image file nor can I save it as a VIDEO_TS folder.

Mac OS X (10.4.11)

... don't know of a log-file, but that error usually indicates, that the video doesn't contain any audio (=as many 'picturess only'-slideshows) .. add 'some' audio' and it should work .. 🙂

Everything has audio now. The video files contain audio according to Quicktime Player. Here is the file information as QT sees it:

+File type is mp4 file+
+Format: AAC, Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz+
+H.264 Decoder, 960 x 544, Millions+
+FPS: 29.97+
+Data Rate: 63.91 kbits/s+

iDVD succeeds on these steps: Prepare, Process Menus, Process Slideshows
iDVD fails when it begins to Process Movies with the same message as above.

Does that information help figure out why it's failing?

I have enough space. I've tried to run this on three different Mac machines (two are Tiger machines and one is Leopard). Here are the machine specifications:

1) PowerBook, 1.67 Ghz PowerPC G4, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OS X 10.4.11, 35.24GB Available on main Drive

2) Mac mini, 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OS X 10.4.11, 100GB Available on main Drive

3) PowerMac, Dual 2.7 Ghz PowerPC G5, 4.5 GB DDR SDRAM, Mac OS X 10.5.3, 53.13GB Available on main Drive

After the failure occurs, with Activity Monitor I noticed the status of these two processes: The ThumbnailServer has pegged the CPU and the EncoderServer says (Not Responding).

I tried going into Project Info at the bottom of the page where it lists the assetts, it shows that the encoding is "Done" on the two movie assetts. I thought maybe there was a problem with the encoding so I changed the encoding to Professional thinking that maybe there was a problem with the encoding process. The encoding changed to two blank bars. After I run the burn, the encoding is still two blank bars and is not marked "Done".

Do I need to put this together with iMovie first? I stopped using iMovie because it seemed like it wasn't doing much and it was easier to just tell iDVD '08 what I wanted on the DVD.
