acer AL1916W display

Hi everyone,

The acer AL1916W display has a native resolution of 1440x900. I just connected it to the MacBook Pro and I don't see this resolution as an option. What can I do to get my MacBook to support the native resolution of my screen?

Thanks in advance,

Juha

It sounds like the Acer lacks having the correct plug-and-display driver. This can be confirmed using the program SwitchRes X and clicking on its "Export DDC" button to create a text file from the Acer's display driver. You should see 1440 x 900 in the driver, but it sounds like it won't be there based on what you are reporting.

If that is the case, that the proper driver data is missing from the Acer, then you can either return the Acer for your money back or you can use SwitchRes X to try and restore the missing timing by building a custom one.
