Call of duty 1.5 patch on intel working for anyone?

If anyone has seen my past posts you would know i have been having some problems with my 24" intel iMac and call f duty and call of duty United Offensive. Well to save you all the past posts..i have finally gotten the disks installed on my computer and running. the problem is if i try to install the 1.5 patch for COD. the installation doesn't happen. it stops installing at the start and looks like it will continue but never does. I called Aspyr and they said that the patch is not intel compatible and that it won't install. bummer. however they also told me that COD in general would not run on an intel or with my graphics card and it runs 100% better than COD 2 does....which runs like atari. has anyone installed the 1.5 patch successfully? if so how? thanks

Copying my response from another post here:

Hi, I too bought a 24" 2.8ghz iMac with the 8800 card and have had limited success with COD and COD-UO. I downloaded the demo of COD2 and it played ok, but slow at times.

Now for COD and UO I can install it, but cannot run the updater. So, IM going to have a friend install it on his G4 Power Mac and run the updated,, burn the folder ( and supporting Application Support folder) to a DVD and let me manually install it. I'll see if this works.

ok guys...here is the NEW news. you may like this but lets not get our hopes up. don't bother trying to install the patch from your friends computer,i have talked to aspyr a few times over the phone about this the past couple of days and they said it can only be updated from the installer. no other way. I tried doing that too with no success. but i will now copy the email that i sent them and their responses. tell me how i did:)

*First email to them:*

+i have been having problems installing COD and UO on my 24" intel mac. If you check past tickets you can see what i mean. I finally got both CD's to install. the first CD installed without a problem the second CD i had to transfer the files by hand and not use the installer. now the next problem is the patch...or patches...(not sure if they made one patch to replace the two patches? but seeing as I have tried to install the patch before and it wont install i was wondering if there was a way i could install file by file instead of using the installer. could i get it done this way...if so where can i get the files or how can i extract them on my computer, thanks+

*their reply:*

+Thank you for choosing Call of Duty Deluxe for the Mac. Unfortunately, there is no way to install the patches besides running the installer.+

+What happens when you try to use the installer for the United Offensive patch?+

+Sorry we could not resolve this issue.+

+Have a great day.+

*My Reply to them:*

+when i try to install the installer it doesn't get past the first+
+second of installation. it just stays in the one spot forever and+
+never moves.+
+do i have to install 2 patches or is the one i have that says it is a+
+combined patch for cod and cod:uo enough?+

*their reply:*

+Ideally, you would need Call of Duty: Version 1.5 patch as well as the Call of Duty: United Offensive: Version 1.5.1 patch.+
+The issue you are having is related to the fact that these patch installers are old and do not run properly on Intel Macs. The first Call of Duty games are not Universal Applications and run under Rosetta emulation when using an Intel Processor. The patches also react adversely when trying to operate in the Intel processor environment.+
+Since this patch issue is also occurring with some games that are actually supported for play on Intel Macs we are trying to isolate and fix the problem for these patch installers first. Unfortunately, since Call of Duty and United offensive are not supported on Intel Macs, I cannot guaranty that we will rebuild these patch installers for this title.+

*Me again:*

+thanks for the info, i guess i waill just play under 1.4.... but honestly as a+
+customer that plays mac games and just bought an intel mac, you should seriously+
+try to fix that 1.5 patch. I bought COD2 and my friends and i still play COD:UO+
+because ...well frankly COD 2 *****. not sure if you have gone on to see how+
+many servers there are... but I see 10 times more servers running COD: UO than+
+COD 2. we buy new computers to play these games under better settings and then+
+find out that you guys don't want to fix them because they are "old" . if the new+
+game wasn't a horrible sequel with no vehicles to drive and many more issues,+
+people would be willing to switch but we are not. thanks, hope you guys listen. in+
+forums all over people talk about these things. COD:UO is still the Bar..+
+everything else falls short. and COD 4 is not a WWII FPS... thats a different+
+catagory so i can't say anything. i will be waiting for that too. thanks,+

*Their last reply:*

Hello,

+We will fix it if possible.+
+I'm going to sit on this e-mail for a couple of days while we discuss some options.+
+I will contact you again in a couple of days.+

+Thanks for your patience.+
+Have a nice day.+

SO..WHAT DO YOU THINK? I Think i made a big enough stink that they actually might try to make a patch that works for us.

HI, I think you misread my idea. My friend is installing the complete COD and UO application and then running the update on those files. Once those are updated, he is copying all COD files( now to a jump drive). So, the updater will be running on a G4 PowerMac and updating local files on his G4.

Kudos though on your efforts with Aspyr...I really think they need to fix this. I can play games that old from other vendors that run fine.

This is weird! We have the new Apple 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac and have been running COD 1.5 just fine for about 6 months. Just yesterday my son wanted to install United Offensive – when he started, it just hung there, ultimately REMOVING the base Call of Duty application! We've completely erased all COD files to start with a clean install. When installing the 1.5 patch, it hangs when installing the pbsv.mac file. Now we can't play.

Any ideas?

hi i am the original poster for the COD:UO problem. I have since fixed theproblem. SO i am here to help you with yours. you have two options.

#1- you can buy the deluxe version that is already patched out of box. but if you are like me you don't want to fork over money for something you just bought.

OR

#2- You can install call of duty and United Offensive but DONT PATCH.... I wish i could just type what files to copy over from the PP to imac but i lost the paper. it's only a few files. what to do. Cal Aspyr like i did. and explain the problem and that you just need to know the files to copy over. they are not really supposed to tell you but my person did cuz she knew exactly what the issue was. sorry i don't have that info anymore. but this will work.. I have been playing COD:UO 1.5c and it runs great.
