Colour Gamut of Cinema Displays

Hi everyone. I'm about to order a MacPro but am having trouble deciding on a monitor.

I'm a photographer so need a decent display but was wondering about all the fuss made on verious forums about wide colour gamut displays. Looking at Eizo coloredge and NEC spectraview displays they seem to have a 96% Adobe RGB gamut but Apple don't quote their figures.

How do ACD's compare to the Eizo and NEC. For the same money I could have a 30 ACD but don't want to scimp on quality.

How noticable a difference is there if any at all?

Thanks.

Imac 17", Mac OS X (10.4.11)

The Eizo displays blow everything else away. But, unfortunately, they are also way more expensive. The NEC, Samsung, Apple ACD, HP and Dell displays are all in a much lower price range. Of these, I would buy the Samsung or the NEC. The Apple display is obviously the "coolest" looking design and "matches" the Apple computers. But when it comes to color accuracy, they are really not "all that" and never have been. If you want "the best", the Eizo is it.

Thanks for the link to the article.

The Mac Pro will not be used to surf the net as I have an iMac for that kind of stuff. It's sole use is photography and as all the applications I use are colour managed I don't think I'll have any of the mentioned problems.

Is my understanding correct that problems with wide gamut displays are an internet thing?
