TRANSFERRING MUSIC

The reason could be that you transferred your CD collection in AIFF format, as I and a thousand other people did.
The ROKR will not accept AIFF files! It'll accept Apple's AAC, or MPEG, but not AIFF, probably because of file size. This is a deal breaker for people with a thousand tunes in the most common audio format.

Through Itunes, under the phone options on the lower right corner, you have to select it to automatically convert to 128 bit. For some reason, it'll only allow 128 bit songs, i have my library at 192 bit and it wouldn't let me copy those songs over. It doesn't effect the songs in your library, it converts them for the phone only, so you don't have to re-rip your library or anything like that. Hope this helps.

A quick note of correction:

The formats you're talking about are actually kilobit per second, abbreviated 128 kbps.

Compressed media types are often described by the bit transfer rate they require to play in real time.

A minor point, to be sure.

Got my phone a couple hour ago... last week upgraged to 10.42
itunes 5.0 and moto rokr
Rokr is not in my itunes like a ipod... it is on my desk top
I selected 85 songs and draged them to the itunes folder
I copied.... All in itunes are mp3.. works in ipod and itunes it is on 128kbps
under itunes prefs > advanced

I dont get where you say phone option>lower right corner?

When I disc the phone from usb sinc... no files are there viewable on phone... but when viewing used space in trans....365000 used of 495000... so they are there

The ROKR icon doesn't appear in the lower right corner -- and it doesn't appear in your device list -- until you install the iTunes Phone Driver. After you've connected the phone once, that driver shows up for download in your Software Update panel.

I went to software updates... that did the trick

there was a Itunes / phone 1.0 update from apple

85 songs took 45 minutes to load.... man its slow... wish it was firewire
