Sony Handycam DCR-SR45

Hello,
I bought a Sony Handycam DCR-SR45. Connected it to imovie 06 and it says no camera is connected
it is plugged in via usb, it is recognized by iphoo since it imports the photos.

Any ideas? Would an newer Imovie work or FCP?
Cause i only got a mac!

PowerBook G4 - 17", Mac OS X (10.4.9), Linksys Wireless Router. Canon ip4200 to pc via USB. iPod 4th gen 20 Gb

Is FCP the best way to go for editing and creating movies with videos transferred from a camcorder? My wife has a SR85 and we are having issues with editing. Mainly because with the QT MPG2 component you only get the video and no audio, and iMovie 6.0 won't play the audio either. I've downloaded MPEG Streamclip to watch the videos with audio but have no way of editing with that program. If FCP is the best way than I will buy that for both of us, if not, what is?

Hi DP,

I was wondering if you could help me... I just bought a Sony DCR SR55E and when I attach it to my mac with the USB nothing shows up. Sorry, I've been searching online and I know that there are some compatibility issues with Sony and the Mac, but I don't know how else to find the answer!

I'd really appreciate any help you could give me,

CarolyneMO
