How do I remove apps from Dashboard?

Short version:
To remove a widget from Dashboard, be sure that the Widget Bar is displayed (click the open ( + ) button in the lower-left corner of the screen) Then click the unwanted widget's close button (the round, black button with a white X).

Even quicker:
Hold Option and all apps will show their 'X" as you mouseover - just click the 'X' of the app you want to remove.

And even easier: Hold down the alt key while hovering with your mouse over the widget. The X to close it will appear without the need to bring up the widget bar.
