iPhoto 6.06 calendar - putting pic on days.....

When I put a picture on specific days of the calendar, I have to manipulate the photo by clicking it and saying "send to back" so the words on the calendar page are shown over the photo. I can do this and then even print the calendar page fine.

when I close iPhoto then come back to my calendar, the pictures on those days are now in the front, and the words are behind the photo. As the calendar i'm working on has lots of these throughout the year, it is VERY FRUSTRATING to have to go back and move all the photos back behind the words on the days.

Is there a way to make this 'stick'?
