iTunes opens and stays in background?

iTunes opens and stays in background?

Help?

When I click on the iTunes icon in the Dock the program opens successfully. However it's in the background, i.e., I have to command-tab or minimize other applications in order to see iTunes. iTunes does not open in the foreground and become the active application like all the other apps do.

Any ideas?

Macbook Pro 15" 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.5.3)

I think I figured out how to solve this Problem: delete the iTunes Entry in the 'Exposé & Spaces' Preferences Pane and everything works fine again.
That worked for me.

I don't have a Spaces entry for iTunes. It will open up into any Space and the menu bar is active across the top, it's just that the window opens up in the background.

I have the same problem, I have expose and spaces disabled.

Create a brand new user account on your Mac. Log in and open Safari and iTunes. Does iTunes come to the front when you click the dock icon?

On mine it did, which is what gave me the clue that it was something to do with my user account.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have just tried creating a brand new account and the same thing happens. I guess it is not a preference setting then.

My problem was like yours, Neil. I cured it by enabling Spaces and then turning it back off.

Excuse my ignorance, but I have looked in my system library folder and my home library folder and don't find this éxpose & spaces pref pane. Am I looking in the right folder?

I have an éxpose pref but I have never used éxpose so when I click on the pref it just shows nothing cause I have never assigned anything to it cause I don't use it so how do I do what is recommended here to make iTunes stop opening in the background? Thank you.
