Safari-Videos dont run, won't save passwords, running slowly

Hi-Safari 3.1.1 shuts down when i run videos. Yes I downloaded Flash and Silverlight. Also Safari does not save my passwords. I have checked and un-checked the preferences and still it wont work. I remember having a Java problem in the past...is this the same thing? Safari runs slowly. Should I just get used to Firefox???
