I live in Florida and like to be outside in the early morning as it is nice and cool. However, there is frequently 100% humidity around sunrise and >90% humidity for a few hours before and after. I was about to take my MBP outside with me yesterday when I thought about the humidity. According to Apple, the humidity range is 0-90% non-condensing. Are these just precautionary, or will serious harm be done to my MBP if I use it outside in such humidity? My iPod works just fine (both in and out of my pocket) in this weather. It's not as though I'm bringing a cold laptop into a hot environment...It's usually in the low to mid 70's around sunrise, which is roughly the room temperature I will be bringing my laptop out of. Also, It feels very comfortable outside in said environment and no other electronics (iPod, electronics in my car, portable stereo(boombox), and others) have ever shown any negative effects from the high humidity...I just don't want to screw up my expensive laptop. THANKS in advance for any advise!!!

Here in New Orleans we have a vibrant coffee culture. As a result of that, I am in a position with similar humidity where I get to see the actions you are concerned about daily. And of all the folks I see using laptops, especially MacBooks, not a one seems to have a care about the humidity. Nor does it seem to affect the computer adversely. And I must confess, I've done the same thing every morning for two years with my iBook (similar atmospheric warning), and it caused no problems.
The key there was the term "non condensing". If you keep the house cooled below the dew point then take the computer that has been inside out on the veranda, there is every chance that some of the ambient moisture will settle out on the logic board and cause a short, but that is the only way I can see damage happening.
Plus, if the very atmosphere of the Gulf States was hazardous to the equipment, I find it unlikely there would be Apple Stores here. We just got one up the road in Baton Rouge. Every time I have been there, they have had the doors thrown open, allowing the humidity in. Everything inside worked fine, and the only folks I heard called out for the Genius Bar were there for "iPhone Support".
So take that computer outside and enjoy the only time of day that is bearable this time of year. 😉
With all the folks living in Florida and having MBP's I have never heard of any issues. I have seen zillions of folks sitting on Lincoln Road or outside a hotspot, myself included, with their laptops and no problems.
I live right on the beach in FL (on a skinnnny barrier island) and only use the AC during the hottest summer months and my ancient trusty ibook is still going strong, so I can't imagine that you would have any trouble. There are plenty of folks using Macs in places with much worse humidity than FL, like some areas of SE Asia, and I've never heard of any problems there from the weather, either.
Thank you all!
I figured I wouldn't have a problem, but I just wanted to make sure. I wouldn't want to ruin my laptop in the
morning. I've used my laptop outside in the day many times, but of course the humidity is lower then.
