Error 403 - iTunes Music Store

Same too for me at the moment although in my case it's giving a (403) while I'm trying to subscribe to a podcast.

Ditto... trying to access my iTunes account details.
Could apple be victims of its own success?
Too many people downloading video files of Lost or Housewives or Pixar?

My G5 system harddrive crashed last week, I installed a new harddrive copied my library from my laptop and now I get error 403 while trying to authorize to listen to the music I own. It says it's some sort of network error, and while my Cox Cable is rather spotty I'm able to post this, so something's up. I'm wondering if it's an issue with the number of computer's registered for the account. I had a laptop stolen this summer and never could deauthorize it...

Try emptying the safari cache and delete the cookies as described here:

I did not empty my Safari cache or delete my cookies, and now suddenly I was able to authorize. In fact I did not do anything except walk away and eat some brown sugar... perhaps this is a problem on Apple's end.

It looks like the store is down now.

I guess I was lucky.

I dumped my cache and deleted the appropriate apple cookies, but I still am unable to connect. I receive the same error. I'm thinking it's either the upgrade or something on Apple's end.

At one time I had a screen stating the store was unavailable due to maintenance or something to that affect.

There's probably not much for us to do about it.

It is now giving a number (5555) rather than error (403) advisng the ITMS is unavailable.

I think it must be reaonably clear by now that ITMS is swamped with video downloads (on top of everything else - tunes and podcasts). We are just a few of the many thousands trying to get all this good stuff.

Off to bed. I will just have to wait. Ho hum.
