I just noticed it on the front page of the video section of iTMS just now & bought it too. Don't know if you're right, but I think both apply. The stats are likely to be jumpy for awhile as it's new, I figure. No doubt though that this video is a classic, I can't think of too many other music videos I would really like to own, let alone that would be that great over & over.
Browsing the new iTunes Music Videos last night (October 12th), I noticed that there were only six music videos in the top one hundred. So I decided to be part of history and purchase a video just to 'get on the list'. I selected something that I thought would be distinguishable from the rest. I choose Fat Boy Slim's Weapon of Choice. I was surprised when this video was instantly number one. Was it solely my purchase that turned this classic into an instant hit, or is this video secretly the "Princess Bride" of music videos for TWITs like me?

It's really an excellent music video. I don't even like the song, but I really have to buy it just because it's got Christopher Walken in it. Anyway, it's also interesting to note that nearly all (if not all?) of the U2 music videos are in the top videos list.
I think that the top 100 list is frozen. It does not appear to have been updated for days now...
Still think that it is frozen, but there have been some write ups on "Weapon of Choice" downloads from iTunes...

And there was even mention of it being number one on one of the news channels on cable (flipping through the channels and happened to catch the news).
