Change Dock background color

Question

Change Dock background color

Unless I park the dock on the LHside or Rh side, the background color is too pale for my failing eyesight to pick up the white dots indicating an app is open.

Is there anyway to fix the dark background so that it is dark when the dock is placed at the bottom of the screen?

iMac intel, Mac OS X (10.4.10), extra ram

you can customize the look of your dock. there are lots of custom docks on the web.
try this [site|http://leoparddocks.com/index.php]. It provides instructions to for doing it by hand. Or you can use [Liteicon|http://www.freemacsoft.net/LiteIcon/index.html] (freeware) or [Candybar|http://www.panic.com/candybar> (shareware) to change it.
