Error when downloading videos in iTunes

Have you upgraded to Itunes 6.0 (and performed an update to ITunes 6.0.1)?
Did you upgrade to QuickTime 7.0.3 as well?
If you have done both of the above...
have you repaired permissions etc (which you should do after a installation anyway)?

Iv on the same ship.. for the last half hour I have been trying to download "Cool" yet It paid for and I have no video. I have all the updates and to add I just downloaded 10.4.3 last night then did a repair permission. ??? Need help. thanks let me know if this is figured out.

I've been getting the same error message trying to download a couple of "LOST" episodes.
I have iTunes 6.01, Quicktime 7.03, and have repaired permissions.
I've tried to download these episodes about 4 times since last night & I'm getting the same error.
Not sure what the problem is, but hopefully these discussions will reveal the solution.

I am also getting the same error message after purchasing michael jackson's thriller. i've contacted itunes support but am still waiting for them to get back to me. the original reply asked me to update to the latest versions of itunes and quicktime but i'd already done that before purchasing the video! let's hope we get this sorted!

Same problem when trying to download Relient K's "Pressing On" video. Has anyone figured it out yet?

not figured out how to stop the message appearing on my imac g5, BUT i did download it successfully from my windows xp machine with itunes installed. i then transferred the file over to my mac. a solution ... but why should my mac be unable to download the file when the windows machine worked fine!! don't you just hate it when the windows machine does something your mac can't do!!

i've also been getting this error while downloading an episode of The Office.

Each time i email apple from via their itunes support form i have received a form letter response.

It has been almost a week with the same error message =(

Ok I noticed my quicktime install would not update, so i re-installed it today, and then remembered i also had previously unchecked the qttask entry for quicktime in the start up registry.

once i reinstalled quicktime, and left the registry entry alone my itunes video download finished without 0xFFFE7958 error the FINALLY =) !!!

Something very similar happened to me and the beginning of the month. The first time I tried to download the video from U2 "Original of the Species" an error message appeared, the download was interrupted. The second time I started dowloading it iTunes crashed. I opened it again and clicked the Check for Purchased Music on the Advanced menu and now it said that all my music had been downloaded.

After a month of looking in the Support site with no answer. today I went to spotlight and started a search for video files and the file was in my computer!!, it just did not show up in iTunes. Double clicked it and now is loaded to iTunes and to my iPod.

I downloaded the partial season of Lost: Season 2 and the third episode won't download. I've tried all of these little 'tricks' but nothing seems to be working. ***? Last time I download from iTunes for sure.

(and yes, I have all of my upgrades)...

Trying to download an episode of The Office for 2 hours. Once it kicked out of iTunes completely saying there was an unknown error. Anyway, it has been about 1/5 of the way through the download for a long time, and I'm guessing it will not complete. Anyone have any advice?

Anyone else experiencing this tonite? Is iTunes down
for maintenance?

I have the same problem downloading the 2nd and 4th Episodes of BattleStar Glactica MiniSeries and Episode 9 of Season 1. For some reason 14 of the 17 episodes downloaded fine and now these 3 are becoming a headache. I sent Apple a messages a while back. I only got a system generated reply. There seems to be dead silence from Apple otherwise. I am very surprised at Apple for not even trying to address this much dissatisfaction. OH WELL, Apple seemed to have a good run for a couple of years. I think its downhill from here.

double check your msconfig setting, and make sure the qttask startup item is enabled.

when i disabled mine i got that error consitently, once i re-enabled it, everything worked fine
