can't install aim.bin on my mac!

I just opened my new MacBook OSX literally like two hours ago, and I've been personalizing it and getting everything just how I like it. I've tried to install AIM for Mac on here about four times, and I keep getting an error message that says "Unable to unarchive aim.bin into Desktop. (error 45 - operation not supported)." I've looked over all of the topics on this board about how to install aim, and they all say that I need to have StuffIt Expander to open it, but I already have it evidently because, whenever I try to install AIM again and open the file, it says "open with StuffIt Expander (default)." What do I need to do?

Mac OS X (10.5.2)

You do not have Stuffit Expander. Your computer does not come with that pre-installed. You must download and install it or another utility such as TheUnarchiver - VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

BTW, you've posted in the Panther and earlier forum but should have posted either in the Leopard forums or the forum for your particular Mac model.

I've just encountered the same problem. How can I not have StuffIt Expander installed on my computer if the application says it is going to open using StuffIt?

I get the same error about "unarchiving".

I'm confused...

Is downloading more software the only way to solve this issue?
