increase font size in published site no go in safari, only in firefox

Somehow the font size does not change when I click the increase/decrease button while in Safari. However, the feature works fine in Firefox.
It's a problem because blog entries as very tiny.
In addition, the general domain name is all I ever see in the address field, not the subheaders (also a problem if you want to mail someone a link to a specific sub page.) It even carries over if I click a link someone mentions in the blog section.
Can this be fixed? What might cause it?
Finally, if iWeb08 isn't up to the job, can I expect not to have such problems with Karelia's Sandvox sotftware? I'd be ready to switch...
