Encrypting a sparse bundle

I created a sparse bundle, and thought I made it encrypted - but
apparently I messed up. So I'm trying to find how to turn on
encryption for it without success. Will I have to create another
one, and copy everything over?

24" iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.1), Home workgroup

No. Open Disk Utility and drag the SparseImage into the sidebar. Click on it, and go to Images>Change Password.

If you didn't uncheck the box to put the password in the keychain, open the Keychain Access application in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and delete it.

I hope that works, but I don't think you can encrypt a sparse bundle once it's created.

I tried using Disk Utility before I posted (using Convert). My sparsebundle was in the sidebar, but I didn't see an "images" command. I dragged one of my 2 instances visible of my sparsebundle to the white spot of the disk utility, and saw it change to two disk4 icons that are pretty meaningless to me. I hope I didn't mess things up.

Images is a menu option at the top.

My keychain access has my sparsebundle listed 3 times. Deleting these won't hurt? They are checked off to confirm, but not to ask keychain password.

As long as you know the passwords, it won't hurt. You will just need to enter the password when you mount the images.

Delete all the entries relating to your sparsebundle. These entries automatically supply your password if your account is logged in when you try to access the image.
