Any type of USB and FireWire drive can be plugged in, but some drives may require drivers which aren't part of Mac OS X.

Where are the drivers available? (For a LG GSA-E50L, for example?) Patch Burn doesn't work for 10.5 which is the only thing I can find in the Discussions as a possible solution

Any Firewire DVD drive will work with no drivers needed, and will work with any read/write app on the Mac.
