hughes.net e-mail upgrade and Mail

On June 24 Hughes.net claimed to update their e-mail service. Now Mail will not connect to their server. Hughes claims it is Apple's problem. Has anyone else experienced and solved this problem? My Mail settings are

That should be smtp.hughes.net. But this isn't an Apple problem. Hughes had to have changed something on their servers, such as requiring password authentication or SSL on a different port. They need to tell you what the problem is; merely blaming Apple is an excuse for them to avoid supporting their customers.

I'd call them up and talk to a supervisor or a manager and have them go through all your settings to be sure everything is correct.

Thank you! Thank you for posting this!
Had the same problem. Spent hour on chat w/hughes support. They blamed it on Apple.
I followed your lead and changed setting to "password" and problem was solved.

They have no clue about changing the settings in "advanced" to "password".

Curiously, the original settings have this as an IMAP acct. I left it as is and it is working.
When receiving info to setup from their tech this morning, they said to use it as a POP acct.

Go figure.
