I went through the same thing only, it appeared that no track solos were selected. Just all tracks had blinking mutes. I finally realized I had deleted a track from the arrange view, but it still existed in the mixer. So if this is the case for anyone with the same problem, open the mixer, click the "all" button next to "single" and "arrange" in the middle-right section of the top of the mixer window. It will show all created tracks in your project, and thankfully enough I found the soloed track, and turned it off. Then deleted remaining unused tracks. 😀

Is it possible then, to turn on/off the mutes/solos of MULTIPLE tracks/channels in the mixer (as you can do in the arrange)...like in Pro Tools, where you can option click and they all go on/off whether you are in the mixer or the arrange page - they "talk to each other". Shouldn't the mixer and arrange in Logic behave the same way as each other/respond to the same commands? Thanks.

There is one fundamental difference with Logic, and other DAW's, like Pro Tools, that many still don't recognize. And this is that a TRACK in Logic, is independent from the channel strip. The track plays through the channel strip, but is it's own entity.

because of this, you can have multiple copies of the same track, all feeding the same channel strip.

However, since Logic 8, there is now a parameter that will give you the behavior you are requesting.

Go to Preferences > Audio > General

Track Mute/Solo... set this to "Fast (remote channel strips). This will tie the track object to the channel strip. So muting/soloing one should mute/solo the other.

Keep in mind, by setting this this way, the track copies lose their independence.

Interesting, yes Jim I am aware of this feature and do in fact have it turned on. But let's say you want to MUTE ALL in the arrange, you can do this by modifer key and click...but you cannot do this in the MIXER using the same command. I would think that the same commands should work across windows, as they do in say Pro Tools, like you mentioned. What I am MOST confused about is why you would want to have them independent (??). If you have the TRACK NAME displayed in the MIXER CHANNEL STRIP, and CHANGE it, the TRACK NAME in the ARRANGE (for that exact track) does NOT change! It's reall ymore like CHANNEL STRIP NAME is being displayed in the MIXER, not TRACK NAME (even though it says TRACK NAME if you right click on a mixer channel). I would like to keep it apples to apples....track in arrange is EXACT to track in mixer, and vice versa...

that goes for moving track position around, selecting multiple tracks, deleting multiple tracks, muting and soloing, colors, and naming. It seems that changing one item in one window, does not (always) automatically affect the same item in the other window in the way I am used to...any words of wisdom?

Maybe this is a nice FEATURE I am actually overlooking... thanks...
