using mac with JVC camcorder

Hi! i'm new the the world of mac and have just bought a JVC GZ-MG330 camcorder, and am having trouble getting my new macbook to recognise and play the video files. Am i missing some download or something? There must be a way to do it since the instructions say how to save it to a mac. Is there some editing downloads i need or something?? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Have a look at the thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1422086&tstart=26 batman's Frog.

The most promising answer there, from "baileybird", is:

"+have an IMAC Desktop 10.4.11 and yes the JVC GZ-MG330 does work with IMOVIE 08, just don't follow the JVC Manual+
+Connect the Camera to the PC as per their instructions+
+Select "Playback on PC" on the camera+
+Then an ICON will appear on the desktop called "EVERIO_HDD"+
+Then open IMOVIE 08 the software automatically attempts to import the files and you get a prompt on the screen to "IMPORT ALL" or the files you wish to import. Follow IMOVIE prompts from there - not the JVC brochure.+"

But there are some other suggestions, too.

Cheers

i am not familiar with that camera, but this is what jvc says about it:

DV output The DV out terminal (Firewire, i.LINK, IEEE1394) on the Everio Dock enables easy dubbing to an external DVD/HDD recorder, and also allows digital-to-digital dubbing of Everio footage to a computer for advanced non-linear editing using third party software.

so it has firewire, so plug in a firewire cable and open iMovie.
