I have noticed that when I try to access the bottom part of the iPhone, that the phone doesn't respond. I tried adding a new contact, and then pressed the sapce bar, and nothing happens. This also happens while in the phone mode, trying to press the icons "contact", "keypad", "vociemails", I notice the phone not responding. Is there an issue with the phone losing its sensitivity to touch? Is this a flaw? Is there a way to resolve this? I don't understand why it's doing this now. Maybe there is an update to fix this? Or maybe it's an actual hardware issue? I bought this phone in November of 2007, so does that mean it's still under warranty?

well it sounds like a software problem as apposed to the touch screen having a fault seeing that the touch screen is a lattice and it would stand to reason that if one part failed then all of it would. if i was you then i would do as others have suggested and take it into an AT&T/O2 store or take it into an apple store and talk to the geniuses, if thats not possible/convenient for you then maybe you can call up AT&T/02/Apple to see if they can sort the problem out from there.
Try resetting you iPhone by holding the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. If that doesn't work, try restoring the iPhone (after synching, of course). If that fails, then you need need to visit the Genius Bar or send the iPhone in to Apple. It's still under warranty.
hi..i am getting worryed because when i turn on my iPhone and then i try to slide to unlock...it wont slide and i end up doing it like 7 times until it will finaly go ....i just wanted to know if this happens to u...
NO, my phone doesn't do that, but it won't allow me to type in the text message box to reply to a message. So, I can't text message on the phone anymore. Also, I can't seem to sync the phone anymore. It gets stuck trying to synch in my contacts and never synchs anything else. It's just stuck!
there have been alot of threads regarding this problem and more often than not, the person had to bring it in to the genius bar at the apple store to get it fixed/replaced
