computer says usb device malfunction

I have a new 16 gb ipod touch bought today ,tried to connect to computer via usb .but computer says device has malfunctioned and computer not recognize it i have tried to restore the ipod and also reinstalled itunes .also checked and restarted AMDS ,HELP what is going on Please

Try this. With your iPod plugged into the usb go to device manager and see if you see a yellow question mark next to and unknown usb device. If you do right click and choose to uninstall the device. Then unplug your iPod and reboot your computer and plug back in your iPod. This is assuming you have Windows. Hope this helps.
