Okay so i have an external hard drive. I can move the files from there to my computer and I can view the files that are on there but i cant put my files on there. I am the system administrator of my computer and it says in system preferances/sharing

My Hard Drive
Administrator READ AND WRITE
Users READ ONLY

The problem is most likely that the hard drive is formatted with NTFS (windows) and that is not able to be written to in OS X be default. If that is the case you can try to use third party utilities to write to it. I found this link with a google search I did not really read it, but you should look at it if what I described is your problem. http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifehack/how-to-read-and-write-ntfs-windows-par tition-on-mac-os-x.html
