Lock Computer

Question

Lock Computer

Hey All!

I am somewhat new to OSX (New Macbook, old Windows user) and I want to know if their is a way to "lock" the computer. I know their is a keyboard shortcut to logout, but can I just lock it like it does when it comes out of the screen saver?

Turn on Fast User Switching from the Accounts pane of System Preferences and switch to the login window.

In the "General" preference of Keychain Access (Utility folder), enable "Show Status in Menu Bar". This will put a padlock icon in the menu bar that has "Lock Screen".

You could also enable the screensaver's "prompt for password on wake" feature (In the Security control panel), and then have a hot-corner of the display enable the screensaver.
