Cannot Turn On FileVault

Hi,

I tried to turn on FileVault, but get this error:

You cannot turn on FileVault to protect the home folder of this user account. The home folder is located on a volume that is not a Mac OS Extended format volume.

My disk has just one partition mounted at / and the file system is formated as case-sensitive journaled HFS+. Any help would be appreciated.

The error is valid. You cannot use a case-sensitive filesystem with File Vault. You will need to convert the drive to standard Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Unfortunately, this requires reformatting the drive so you will need to make a bootable backup before implementing the change.

Thank for the quick answer. I just got a new MacBook Pro that I had formatted to be case insensitive, so I guess I'll just format it gain. Good thing I haven't really done too much with the computer yet.
