connecting Yamaha S08 keyboard to new iMAC garageband

I cannot connect my Yamaha S08 to garageband. I bought a new USB cable (USB on onw end and the "brick"connection on the other end) and it won't work. Do I need to download a certain driver or something. Please help!!!

iMAC, Mac OS X (10.5.3)

I am pretty new to Macs and definitely new to the whole digital music thing. ( i play piano professionally) Where can I find the drivers! thanks for your help
