Error 4251

I am new to iTunes - downloaded the software about 10 days ago, and initially I was very impressed with how smoothly everything worked. Then I tried to burn a CD.

"The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4251)."

I have checked many threads on this discussion forum, and although this error has been reported before, I didn't see any answers posted. I checked iTunes support, and then made sure that in my preferences, "audio CD" was specified under the "burning" tab. I also re-booted (sometimes that works with Windows). And I went to the control panel and Add/Remove programs, and initiated a "repair" to iTunes. I also checked Dell support, and didn't see anything there (but I still have a lot to plow through).

Nothing has worked. I've wasted six CDs now. I'm fairly sure that the problem is not the CDs themselves, since I just used one the CDs in this stack to make a copy of a CD I have ... using another program.

Does anyone out there know the answer? Many thanks.

I left this on another thread, and hopefully it'll apply:

I'm not sure what the actual error is, but I've found that if you change the burning settings it can sometimes help.

Go to "Edit" > "Preferences" > click the "Advanced" tab > and then the "Burning" tab.
Then lower the preferred speed (say, from 24x to 16x) and change the gap between songs from two seconds to none.

Since doing this I've only had the error come up a couple of times in which case I just lowered the speed once again.

Hope this helps 🙂
