A friend uses iMovie (sorry, not sure which version) and saves his files onto a large external hard drive. However, he keeps getting messages that the hard drive on the computer is full cose to capacity. Does iMovie place backups, or any other files, on the computer's hard disc without you realising it? Is so, where are these files and can they safely be deleted?

Any other ideas?

The entire iMovie project is saved within the one project folder, the one with a star in the icon. This must be stored in the Movies Folder or, if on an external hard disk, one called that. Moreover the external hard disk must be connected by firewire.

    Thanks for that.

However, the problem here appears to be that the project is stored on an external drive, but STILL the computer's own hard drive is filling up.

Time to clear some stuff off the hard disk then!

Clearing caches would be a start. A utility like Onyx is good at that.
