From the Downloads stack click and hold and select *Display as Folder*, View content as fan if you like the fan but that is not essential here.
select *Date Added*
select *Open "Downloads"*
and they will open in a Finder window ordered by date added.
You only have to make those first selections once, and then Open "Downloads" will work thereafter in Date Added order.iMac eMac iBook OS X panther leopard, Mac OS X (10.5.3)

yes, there is such an option in stacks. here is my solution - i simply drag desired folder to the dock and keep my data sorted by date added and view content as list. you can easily go down the rabbit hole and see folders n files sorted in a way you described. As a view option i find this not so bad. however, i want this feature in finder as a default. no doubt. thank you for reading.macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.5.4)
