How can I adjust playback speed?

Is there a way to adjust playback speed in iTunes?

For example, when playing a lengthy audio book, I like to increase the speed of the playback.

When listening to foreign languages for study, I like to slow down the speed.

Any way to do this using iTunes?

Yes you can:

The software is called Amazing Slow Downer, it is used for musicians wanting to slow down a piece of music to study it BUT it also can speed up the piece. So, this is a piece of software in need of a name change if there ever was one.

It will do the trick for you and there is a trial version. A friend of mine uses it to speed up courtroom audio transcripts another friend listens to university lectures at double speed while running.

Amazing Slow Downer is great.

You'll find some basic information about it on my site at:

Slow Downer will speed up recordings (almost any format) to 200%.

But beware, if you're using QuickTime 7.x you use Amazing Slow Downer to play protected music purchased from Apple's music store.

Everyone should complain to Apple about this sort of restriction.

Yes, I just ran into this limitation. (and just fired off a complaint on the Quicktime feedback page, which they don't make easy to find BTW)

DRM limiting the number of computers you can play your music in is okay, but you shouldn't be limited on the applications used to play them (so long as it is regards to playback, not saving)

Very irritated by this restriction!
