iPhone connecting to Alpine 9886 via Alpine 300BT issues

Hey folks, I followed the directions and installed the 300BT successfully. Here is the deal... I can connect the BT to the 9886 and change the selections for setup, but there is no screen to pair my iPhone to it. I go to the iPhone and turn on the Bluetooth and the head unit shows up and pairs. But, when I go back to the head unit, it says there is "No Phone" connected.

I try to follow all the directions that came with the head unit and the Bluetooth adapter, but the instructions don't match what comes up and the manual has no troubleshooting for the Bluetooth to give a reason or fix.

Anyone been successful using the iPhone with a 9886 Alpine system?

Please help!

Yes,

I went to the Functions on the Head Unit and selected "Bluetooth". Selected it and told it to be connected via "Adapter" (per the instructions). Then I went to the iPhone and went to "Settings", "General", "Bluetooth" and turned it on. I then get the earch in which it finds the Head Unit just fine. So I select it and I get the obligatory "Passkey" screen in which I enter the default 0000 and enter... viola! it connects to the head unit.

But, not so fast...

I then go to the head unit and it still says "No Unit" and when I press the "Phone" button on the face of the unit, it shows "No Phone".

I tired it with my wife's Motorola Razr V3 as well and get the same results.

Any ideas?
