Mouse Speed at Login

I have a really fast mouse tracking speed set for my account. However before I login on the login screen page the mouse is deathly slow. How can I adjust the moust tracking speed at the login page?

You can't. Tracking preferences are set per user, so tracking speed will remain at default until a user logs in.

You can use the arrow keys, instead of the mouse, to select the account.

"CAN'T" is not a word in my dictionary. But you gave me an idea. Each account has its own library folder which I'm guessing is where it is stored. If I can find and replace on the System Library I should be good. Plus I know the login interface is customizable according to apple. They tell you how to insert a disclosure at the top of the login box if you so desire.

P.S. I cannot use keys but nice suggestion.

You may be able to apply that hack to a systemwide plist file. Let us know if it works.

Well my mouse speed for my account is much faster as I need it to be. Unfortunately when I tried that technique on the system level library, no such preference exists for mouse speed. I'm not sure if injecting that file into the Library folder (system level) will help any. We are so close.

I tried it here and it doesn't work. I guess mouse speed before the login window is hard coded.

I just tried this and it worked for me (running OS X Tiger 10.4.11):

1) Open a Terminal window

2) Type "sudo su", then enter your password to gain root privileges.

3) Type "cp Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist /var/root/Library/Preferences" to copy your user preferences to the root user.

I'll try this on my Leopard system when I get home tonight and post here to let you know how it goes.

Thank you, thank you. My mouse has been acting weird and
I did not know how to fix it. The link in your posting was
great.

I changed mine from 0.5 to the suggest 0.008 and it is working
much better now
