I just got a new mac with my business and I am having log in problems. There is a section where you can change it from use on a business network to personal use at home. I can't find it but I saw it yesterday. Does anyone know where this option is? I am going crazy.
I was playing with the Mac settings yesterday and it was originally set to primarily be used on a business network. There is a place, I can't remember where that you can specify it being used for personal use rather than business. I hit apply and it said the settings would take effect on restart. Well, I think it did take effect and now the windows login screen won't let me log in. The problem is that I don't remember where I was when that was switched over.
From how you describe your actions, it sounds like you may have been logged into Windows (and not OS X) when changing your settings. If so, it may also sound like you have Windows Vista.
If my assumptions are correct, I think you will find the settings you refer to under the firewall-settings.
However, I may be wrong since you say that you now cannot log into Windows. By changing the firewall- settings, your log-in settings should, as far as I know, not have been affected.
If you were in OS X when doing the changes you refer to, I can only agree with the others - I do not recognize where you may have been doing the adjustments.
You can set up different "locations" from the network preferences panel, but there's no difference in how they operate. It's just for naming different configurations. There's no fundamental difference between business and home network setup.
No, I was on the Mac side which I don't know quite as well as Windows, which explains a lot. I have Windows XP which was put in via Boot Camp. I don't know if that might be an option for me. Really the Mac is pretty foreign. I just got it in late May after being with Windows for years. Time Machine is not set up either. I don't know if Boot Camp or Restore can help me. I don't think it is necessary but who knows. It's very frustrating.
