My 2nd generation iPod Nano has locked me out

I own a 2nd generation iPod Nano. Yesterday, when I turned it on, I discovered that I was locked out of the controls, and the Hold button wasn't even activated. I think I've tried everything possible, both on this site and at home, to get the controls to unlock so I can use it again, but nothing has worked. Is my iPod officially broken, or does someone else know of a way to fix such a problem that isn't listed anywhere?

Have you tried resetting your iPod? Make sure the hold button is turned off, then hold down the menu + center button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. You should see an apple appear on the screen.
If that doesn't work, and your iPod is recognized by iTunes, I'd try and restore the iPod which is explained in this article:

I am looking for a solution to the same problem. I have tired the 5 R's a couple of times. The iPod will connect to iTunes & I can reset it but when I unplug it it does not respond to the wheel.

I am having a similar problem. My ipod is frozen in lock mode, and will not be recognized by itunes. I can't sync the ipod, and when it's connected to the computer, Itunes doesn't come up automatically. Is there anything I can do?
