Excite.com mail no longer compatible with safari

Excite.com mail has been long in the tooth for some time now, however, their recent team up with Blue Tie media to upgrade their e mail to something like yahoo, of gmail, has been a complete failure so far. Come to find out, you can no longer access excite mail through safari, and apparently only part time with IE, as long as you are willing to disable your (windows) virus protection.
I think this is a huge snafu, to take a already diminutive excite mail, then downsize it more by eliminating a whole browser audience.
To reiterate, Excite.com mail, no longer works with the safari browser, and only partially works with IE.
Great job excite..., you are on your way to obsolescence.

I had a look at Excite's website to see if they listed any browser requirements for their new email but couldn't find anything. Since you're both experiencing the same problem I can only guess that, as you suggest, they don't support Safari any more.

If they have a contact address on their site, then send them an email about this. Also, send a bug report to Apple via Safari menu > Report Bugs to Apple... as sometimes they do work with higher profile sites to get them working again (especially if for Excite is actually doing something correct and highlighting a bug in Safari).

In the meantime, you could try using the [Firefox|www.mozilla.com] or [Camino|www.caminobrowser.org] browsers to visit Excite email to see if they work. If nothing else, it's always a good idea to have a backup browser.

Good Day iBod,

Yes, thanks for your options. I'm aware of the other work arounds ( I use firefox as my secondary browser for cases like this), however it ticks me off to no end that in this day and age of muti access for all OS's on the web, that they would do this and be selective of the preferred browser you use.
More than that, the old system they had in before, worked perfectly with the majority of browsers.
Sure, it was not as flashy as gmail, yahoo, ect..., But heck, they are excite..., not a google, and they could never compete. I guess what ticks me off the most is that I've had the account since 97 with even old hardware, and now I have to do their workaround if I want to check my mail? Not acceptable!

Yeah, it took me a while to find info about them as well. They bury it very cleverly.
