Don't want to share

While connected to a wireless hotel IP my computer keeps showing "SHARED" computers even though I've turned off everything I can find concerning sharing. When I turn off Airport these listed computers disappear.

How do I get rid of these uninvited/unwanted guests and just what could I be sharing with them?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

if you turned off sharing you are not sharing anything with them. they are sharing something with you because their sharing is on. Your computer is invisible to them when your sharing is off.

VK thanks I nevered noticed this feature before and was a little concerned....do they show up just because we're on the same hotel wireless network?

yes, that's right. but as i said if your sharing is off they can't see you and you are completely safe.
