I bought a new laptop last christmas and haven't been able to install itunes properly up to this point. I am logged in as the admin. and have saved the application and ran it as the admin. and I still get this message.

The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: C\ProgramFiles\Itunes.Resources\zh_TW.lproj\YahooLicense.rtf.

Can anyone help me figure this out. It ***** having to keep my old pc around just to use itunes. The O.P. is vista and the laptop is a sony vaio VGN-NR110E.

That sort of message might be produced by a damaged file. So it may be worth trying a disk error check on the C Drive.

Go "Start > Computer". Right-click the C drive and select "Properties". In Tools, click "Error checking".

Does the disk check find/repair any damage? If so, does an iTunes install go through afterwards?

Okay. It's somewhat of a sledgehammer approach in this instance (and somewhat experimental advice in your context), but the procedure from the following Weblog entry may be worth a try:

Aaron Stebner's WebLog: Solving setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions

(Normally, I only advise this for certain kinds of recalcitrant registry key permissions issues, but it can have some efficacy with permissions on files too.)
